Hyper V on Windows 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

Does anybody know if there is a limit to how many virtual machines I can create using Hyper V on a windows 7 pro X64 PC?

Or even if I can create VM's this way or would I need to install Server 2008 R2 + to be able to host a virtual enviroment?

    Thanks in advance,

    Dan

Answers

  • there is no Hyper-V for Win7, only win8.1 and win10 will have HV built-in

on win7 you would have to use oracle virtualbox or vmware workstation products

if you get 2008 R2 you can build as many VMs as your hardware allows, however you're still expected to have valid licenses for all those VMs and that's a whole different discussion
