Unable to Activate Office 2016 Tech Preview RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello there,

I have downloaded and installed Office 2016 Tech preview. However when I open word 2016 or excel 2016 ,it keeps prompting me to " To Activate Office, enter the email address that is associated with your office subscription"

I used my gmail id while downloading the tech preview so entered my gmail address and clicked on NEXT button, but it goes to a Microsoft login screen asking for user name and password.

Then I used my Hotmail credentials to login. But it still gives an error-

"The   email id  isn't associated with this office product. To activate this install please sign in with the account associated with the product."

But when I use my gmail id it still goes to the next screen where it prompts for Microsoft login. Please help

  • For Office2016Preview, the dedicated forum is here:

    http://community.office365.com/en-us/office_2016_preview/f/default.aspx

You need to have a current/valid Office365 Subscription which includes Office365ProPlus (usually only Enterprise plans have that)

  • Don,

Absolutely not. There is no need to have a valid Office 365 subscription to install the public Preview of Office 2016. Here is what the Office 2016 Preview page state:

If you don't have an Office 365 subscription, you can download a trial version of Office 2016 Preview from the list of choices below.
Use the product key provided below to activate your trial.

  • Farooq,

Instead of entering Office 365 account credentials you need to choose the product key (see the right lower corner of the dialog in Office 2016). Take a look at the Office 2016 Preview page for more information.

It works like a charm on my PC even without an Office 365 subscription (even I have got another account for that).
