Need to find cause of TCP Connections being reset RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a user who has a Windows XP machine.  We use a backup software to perform daily backups of many machines on our network.  His machine was not backed-up last night due to a "connection reset" error.  This occurs every few weeks for his machine only.  I want to find out what is causing this "connection reset" error.  I checked in the Event Viewer on his machine and the Application Log showed the nearest activity occurring at the same time as the backup is an update to Skype which starts about 80 minutes before the back-up of his machines.  So, this is not the cause of the issue.

I am not sure what is causing the "connection reset" issue.

    1) Are there any logs besides those in Event Viewer that I can check to find this out?

    2) Any other suggestions to help me find out what is causing the "connection reset" to occur sporadically every few weeks would be appreciated.

  • Try to restart the router. It can be a network device problem.
