Monitoring database.Side by side migration approach RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are following side by side migration approach to migrate Lync Server 2013 environment to Skype for Business Server 2015.

In Lync 2013 environment, Monitoring reports are deployed and associated databare also exist in the back end Server.

Please suggest if it is mandatory to migrate monitoring data as well ?

Or can we plan to deploy it as a new for SFB ?

  • It is optional, if you see the data in it is critical as per your company policy, you may plan for migrate else it is an good idea to have it fresh deployed for SFB ...

  • Hi James,

It depends on you whether deploying a new Monitoring role in SFB deployment or using the previous one by migrating the monitoring database.

If you don’t migrate it, then you won’t get the old Lync data from monitoring report in the new SFB environment though it is all depends on your actual demand.

By the way, if you still want to use the existing one, you could refer to this article regarding how to migrate the monitoring database to a new SQL server, though it is similar with the scenario from Lync 2010 to 2013.

    Kind regards,

    Calvin Liu

  • Hi,

Is there any association with CMS If we plan to deploy as a new ? During CMS migration, any activity needs to be performed due to monitoring database ?
