Remove/Hide default folders in new User Profile RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are currently in the process of creating our default Windows 7 Enterprise Images in preperation for a pilot deployment. Following the creating default User profile for Windows 7 works well, however any attempt to Delete or add the Hide attributes the directories results in the folders reappearing during Windows setup

We would like to be able to hide or remove the following files from the new style user profile (User Files)

    Contacts, Downloads and Saved Games.

These directories would have no use and would like to remove them rather than setup new Folder Redirection rules for useless directories.

    Many Thanks

  • Hello Linda,

I believe we have found a resolution for our request however we are just testing this at the moment. however it is not the most ideal workaround as we would of liked the full default user profile customisations to of worked so that we could of used our Image with our Default User profile on standalones.

At the moment we have looked into Group Policy Preferences to removes the files/folders that we do not want in the User Profiles, such as Saved Games and Downloads. It does cause us an issue removing the Shorcut to Downloads.lnk from the Links folder because the Downloads folder is removed by GPP.

Any suggestions to making the Folder/Files customisations on a standalone system would be greatly appreciated as GPP are not available then?

    Regards
