  • I have AD DS server without DHCP server, and i have another server without AD DS, Do i need to setup ADDS to my second server if i want to setup DHCP Server, Is it fine if I just join the second server to first server (domain) and setup the 2nd server without ADDS and only DHCP server is configured?

  • Hi,

If you just need DHCP, you can do this with a second server that only has DHCP. To provide DHCP to a domain you will need to authorize the DHCP server, but this can be done without AD DS on the same server.

Join the server to the domain, then install DHCP, then authorize the server in the domain, then create and activate a DHCP scope.
