    I tried to install the Java 6 update 30 executable. It stalls when the update runs and the only way to cancel seems to be to reboot the computer. What I've read is that it's a UAC problem, the installation triggers an escalation behind the scenes and nothing more happens?

    My genereal question is, does the SCE "run as" account need to be elevated after the update client runs if it is a software installation that need administrative permissions?

    What is the recommended way of installing software that needs administrative permissions?

    Hi,

     

    Please check if there are any errors in the “%windir%/windowsupdate.log”. Please also review the “Deployment Status” of the software package.

     

    Meanwhile, please double check the package and ensure the installation package is valid and the parameter is proper. When creating the package, please don’t select the “Publish Update(s) to ‘Add/Remove Programs’” option:
