  • Question

  • Currently I am working as A SharePoint Administrator. I have a very good understanding of the architecture and implementation related to SharePoint, windows server, Sql server, IIS.I am comfortable with SharePoint designer.I am very much strong in Site definitions, List definition, customize content types.
The only problem is i am very much amateur related to object Models. I am not able to developed  web parts, workflows, event receivers etc.... I have an understanding of how to create this Solutions. i am struggling when there is a C# coding needed. I can edit the existing Solutions and modified it the way i want it. i can read the existed web parts but i cant create the same web parts from scratch. I need a guidance from SharePoint community from where i can start to become a SharePoint developer. I have a very basic Knowledge of C#. i can understand the code but i cant write the code. Please show me from where and how to start. If there is any good course please suggest which courses are better for me. I am very much keen to learn the webparts and  Workflows solutions.

  • Karthick, When posting links to your own blog, please at least make that much clear, it's an evident self interest.

Aniket, have you a budget, or are you looking for free materials only?

  • Hi Aniket,

I would recommend you to go through these video's first:

    http://www.asp.net/general/videos

And then return to SharePoint Developer Videos at:

    http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/en-us/resources/Pages/Developer-Training-Guide.aspx

If the above self-help doesn't help, then consider taking up a Instructor Led training.

  • My company may will provide me a course and i don't mind to be a self learning as well. My main concern is that i am weak in C# coding which is holding back to me. So i was in dilemma whether to go for SharePoint developer course or to go to C#/Asp.net developer course. As i said i know in outs of Sharepoint As i am an Admin i know the frame work of SharePoint but struggling with codes solutions.
