Backup and Restore

Question
-
I'm running Server 2008 R2 on a single server, I don't have Active Directory installed.
I'm trying to wrap my head around how to backup this server (PowerEdge 2950) and be able to restore the backup to a new server (PowerEdge R710). I tried the Baremetal, but with all the hardware differences between the two servers, it doesn't work. Is there a way to backup Server A and Restore it to Server B?
Thanks,
Kevin

Ok, this seemed to work, however is it common to have to reactive the OS again?

Hi,
The re-activation issue occurs because the system hardware environment has been dramatically changed. During the first activation procedure, the Windows system will record the current system configuration such as model of CPU, Motherboard, etc. If the current hardware change exceed an allowed situation, it will trigger the re-activation of the Operating System. This feature is designed to protect an activated Operating System from being cloned from one computer to another computer which doesn't comply with the EULA (End User License Agreement) of the Microsoft Windows Operating System. When trying to re-activate online, if the Product Key of the current system has already been registered, it is normal to receive the message that the Product Key is in use. At this point, we will need to re-activate the system via the Automatic Phone Activation System.
