Mailmerge, hide convert warning RRS feed

  • is it posible to disable this warning with regkeys. The *.txt file is a from a host. But If we click ok it work's fine. Word detect the correct fileconversion

    That suggests the file is not actually a plain text file, despite what the extension might suggest, or that it contains characters that Word regards as atypical of a plain text file (ie ASCII characters with values less than 32 or greater than 127).

  • There's a DefaultCPG registry key that affected this behaviour in Word 2002/2003, and I think it may still be applicable in 2007/201 even though the KB article has not been updated for that. Probably worth a look, anyway:

  • Have you confirmed whether the 'confirm file format conversion on open' option is checked? In Word 2007 & later, it's under Word/File Options|Advanced > General. In Word 2003 & earlier it's under Tools|Options|General.

  • I'm not aware of any setting that might affect it, so I suppose it's either as a result of a design decision or a programming oversight (bug).
