Error using Get & Transform Data RRS feed

  • Question

  • Ever since the Get & Transform group was relabeled Get & Transform Data, I have been unable to properly use the "Power Query" functionality on my desktop computer.

For example, if I create a query from an Excel table, an error message appears after I Close & Load (connection only). I cannot subsequently load to anything (Excel table or the data model), and the error message surfaces during the load attempt. To eliminate the error message and the loading issues, I have to use the Deferred channel installation, which lags behind the First Release for Current Channel by four eternal months.

Does anyone have any ideas how I might get rid of the problem? Error details are as follows:

  • It is probably better to share the step that triggers ther error, and what error message is in PQ

    From my post:

"For example, if I create a query from an Excel table, an error message appears after I Close & Load (connection only)"

I cannot subsequently load to anything (Excel table or the data model), and the error message surfaces during the load attempt.

    (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8002802B (TYPE_E_ELEMENTNOTFOUND))

Sorry if the above wasn't clear in the first place.

  • Hi Colin,

The stack trace looks truncated, are you able to include the entire details?

    Thanks,

  • Hi Colin,

We are familiar with this issue. Please try re-installing Office. If the problem still returns afterwards - please let me know.

  • Hi Tal,

When I encountered the problem, I actually reinstalled from scratch several times with no luck. I did an update to build 8067.2070 today (2017-05-10), which didn't help. Because it was a new build, I did another install from scratch, but the error still appears.

  • Hi Ehren,

Based on Tal's recommendation, I used the Office removal tool to remove Office 365 and leftover elements of earlier versions of Office. However, the problem still persists. We hoping that an upcoming fix will address the problem.
