Dual boot menu gone after I restore my ghost image in C: drive RRS feed

    I installed the Vista in my D: drive which use to have a dual boot menu in my C:\ drive but when I restore my ghost image which is before the installation of the Vista OS, now, I cannot boot into the Vista

     

    Can anyone know how to build the boot.ini to include back the Vista system

    Since you have restored old ghost image after the update so your only immediate SOS may be below: 

    1. Open  boot.ini for edit

    2. Copy and paste as new the line multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW="Microsoft Windows XP .........

    3. Increment the partition(n) by one like partition(2) on the new pasted line.

    4. Change the string "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" to Whatever you like

    5. Save and reboot.

    If Ghost have done other things the above may not work. Then you may need to re-install Vista again

    Finally, I reinstall the Vista OS but this time I install in my D:\ drive and the BOOT.INI and all related files are saved to D:\
