Unable to view PDF files in browser from SharePoint 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are having SharePoint 2013 environment in that we have couple of libraries with PDF files. While we are opening the PDF files from IE and Chrome we are seeing blank screen. Can you please tell us what are the settings/plug ins needed for IE to show PDF files in browser.

  • Hi,

Tools>Manage Addons>Show All addons..... locate your PDF viewer application plugin in the list and make sure ALL of its components are "Enabled", particuarly any 'Link Helper' addons (browser helper objects) that are listed under the Vendors name.

Check with your PDF viewer application vendor if they have updates for their products, particuarly if you have upgraded from an XP environment and haven't yet updated your PDF plugin.

To further troubleshoot the issue, use a network sniffing tool to examine the request and responses, to confirm that the response length matches that of the response header.

    also possible is

Internet Options>Advanced tab, uncheck "Do not save encrypted files to disk"..... use the File>Properties menu in IE to determine which IE security zone the web folder where the PDF document is stored is in the same security zone as your domain (expected intranet)....

    Regards.

  • As Rob mentioned, please try it.

In addition, As this issue is mainly related to SharePoint, I suggest discussing it in our SharePoint forum. They are the best resource to troubleshoot this issue.
