"Finish" date RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    PS 2010

I have some issues related with filed "Start" and "Finish" on task.

    1. I create new task "Test", set "Start"to 01.01.2014 and "finish" to 31.12.2014. Save and Publish project.

    2. Next I reported hours to "Test" task. As a project leader I accepted and published hours.

    3. Today I can see that "Finish" date is set to 08.01.2015.

Why field "Finish" date is modified ? Nobady change this manually.

  • Try changing the task type to fixed duration.  Select the task then from the menu Task > information > Advanced > Task Type = Fixed Duration.  Also make sure Auto Leveling is not turned on.  from the menu Project > Leveling Options.

  • Hi Sotart,

if you impute total work hours of task in actual work. Ms Project consider that it's finished and finish date will be the last imputation date of actual work. if is not your case.,recalculate your project.

    Hope this help you.

  • Hello,

    Thank you for quick help

    1. Task Type = Fixed Duration - all tasks are "Manually Schedule", in this case it is not possible to change task type.

    2. Auto Levelling is turned off

I really can't understand why finish\ start date is changing when user report hours to task. In my opinion it is not normal :(

    Any other ideas ?
