PS Security is not working in portfolio project selection window (All projects are visible). RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello everyone,

Project server security is not restricting the projects in portfolio project selection window, how I can configure it to show only their projects which are visible to the user (not from the view)?

*Here security is configured with RBS.

Note: I am using Project server 2010.

  • Hi Avinash

it's intended to works that way and is default behaviour, as the selected projects are based on views & by default there is only 1 summary view available for both Portfolio Analysis & Portfolio Analysis project selection, you might want to put a filter for filtering out projects based on your requirement

Reason for making those projects still available lies in the basic question of portfolio analysis, wherein you analyze both new & existing projects(in execution) as well for reasons to optimize your ongoing portfolio which include currently executing projects as well, wherein there might be a need to  kill a project or refund an existing project to make it early or to re resource it hence it includes all projects & by default a porfolio analyzer should be able to see all projects to optimize

Let me know, if this answers your question

  • What roles have you given the user?

If you want to restrict the number of projects, then you will need a custom group, similar to the Portfolio Manager, except you will need to enable the RBS security.

    Cheers!
