DVD Driver RRS feed

  • I try to put a cd or dvd into my driver but it won't read I run a test and it says I have a code 19...something wrong with device or the signature and I have no clue what to do from here. It worked fine for a few months then just stopped. Any suggestions?

    Based on my research, I suspect the issue is related to the hardware or its driver.


    At this time, please try the following suggestions to see if it works:


    1.    Please remove and reinstall the DVD drive in Device Manager and see if it works.


    2.    You can also refer to the following Knowledge Base and try the solution:


    The CD drive or the DVD drive does not work as expected on a computer that you upgraded to Windows Vista:



    Meanwhile, I would like to share the following document which is related to the error message:


    Code 19: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged



    If everything worked before, a quick solution is to restore the system back to the previous status when the issue didn’t occur with System Restore. (Note: Performing a system restore may cause the loss of the current system settings; therefore, before doing this, please make sure that the system restore point is not too old and set a restore point for the current status.)
