Export single setting from GPO to create new GPO with the single setting

    Question

  • We have a massive GPO with a lot of settings on our locked down network. We now have a more open network and we just want to export a few settings from the massive GPO to create a new GPO. We can export the entire massive GPO and manually delete the individual settings we don't want but that would take forever, is there another option to just export the settings we want or to export the the whole thing and edit it easier?

  • If your settings are being done by GP-Preferences, you can drag-and-drop a setting/item from GPO_a onto GPO_b to copy that setting/item across.

For classic GP settings (which are controlled by Admin Templates), I've never tried that drag-and-drop method.

Don [doesn't work for MSFT, and they're probably glad about that ;]
