Deploy CCMSETUP SCCM Client During MDT OSD? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I read a thread that says you should not deploy this via MDT task sequence, but use client push instead,

If you deploy via client push, wouldn't there be installation conflicts as other applications are installing via the task sequence at the same time and there may also be reboots for other parts of the OSD that happen while the client push is in the middle of running?

  • May i know your intention for this testing.

It is not required to run the sccm client in MDT TS. But it is required in the SCCM TS for the deployment to be completed successfully.(only if the sccm client installs and assigns the proper MP, deployment will proceed with installing the applications\settings in the later part of the task sequence.)

  • Our SCCM environment is new, so we are only using SCCM for application installation, software updates and inventory.  We still use MDT for OSD.

We need to get the SCCM client deployed to workstations in an automated way on new clients.  If a client push happens during an OSD task sequence, there may be conflicts.   Why not simply install the SCCM client during the task sequence as an application just like any other application?

  • Hi Hope this helps

You can set MDT to install and wait for install to finish then do next application.

The trick here is you have add <install app> for each application you want to install

  • Installing the SCCM client is a breeze!

    Obtain the source files from

    <Site Server Name>\SMS_<Site Code>\Client

Grab entire contents and import into MDT as application.

    Command line

    ccmsetup.exe /noservice /MP:<Site Server Name> SMSSITECODE=<SITE CODE> smscachesize=10000
