NIC in VM shows Unidentified Network RRS feed

  • Question

  • Created a VM, server 2008 R2 using Hyper-V under a Server 2008 Host.

Host has multiple NICs, but only 2 active.

In Guest, I selected the 2nd NIC, assigned a static IP of 192.168.0.18

    Network:

    GW: 192.168.0.1

    DNS: 192.168.0.6

    Subnet: 255.255.255.0

If I run an ipconfig /all on guest, it comes back with a 169.254.107.79 (preferred) indicating auto-configuration is configured. I cannot find anyplace to disable it)

In a later section it indicated the IP 192.168.0.18 is a duplicate.

When the system comes up, it indicates an unidentified network.

I cannot ping the DNS, or GW.

    Any help?
