Best Practice for Adding Space to SCCM SQL database volumes?

    Question

  • Hi All-

We have a virtual SCCM 2012 stand-alone Primary Site server with SQL co-located.  Is there a best practice or recommended process for adding additional space to all the existing SQL volumes (separate Database, logs and tempbd)?  Just not finding a recommend process to do this and I'd rather be safe than sorry.  Thanks for the help.

  • Not specifically, but to be safe, sure. I'd do that before the backup as well.

  • This is all transparent to ConfigMgr and SQL Server even.

Backup (everything), add space, extend volume. Done.
