Power Query Referenced Queries impact RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a query which is set up to reference queries it depends on - all but the top level query are set up as connection only. At the top level i have a function which iterates on the resultset and makes some HTTP POST calls into a web service.

    I have another query set up the same way. The only thing they have in common is that they both share a common connection only query.

    Recently i added in Diagnostics.Trace calls into both so i could see what was executing and how long they were taking.

    I was surprised to discover that when i execute one top level query i get log messages from that as well the other top level query even though i hadn't executed it.

    The queries are laid out as follows denoted by alpha characters:-

    When A is executed it triggers F When F is executed it triggers A

    A --> Diagnostics.Trace FROM Here
      --> B
        --> C
           --> D
    F --> Diagnostics.Trace FROM Here
      --> E
         --> D

      If I run A I get a log entry from both A and F If I run F I get a log entry from both F and A Is it because they have the same common referenced query (D)?
