DNS forwarder disappears. RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have an unusual situation in our DNS which I hope someone can advice.

There is a conditional forwarder we have setup when we merged with another company.  That forwarder has been working nice for weeks until today.  For some reason, the domain we created disappears.  We recreated, but it disappears again.

The DNS service is running on a WIN2012 DC.

Please advice is someone has an idea.

  • Hi EdKC,

Since DNS server has either "Forwarder" and "Conditional Forwarder", then, just confirm it with you that you are talking about "Conditional forwarder":

Then, do you get any rules when the conditional forwarder disappear, such as the conditional forwarder disappear when you do some changes.

Also check if you are running any third-party software or application, if yes, please turn them off and test the result.

Besides, you may turn of DNS debug log to check if there is something that related with issue.

    Best Regards,

    Anne

  • Hi EdKC,

WSUS forum is more related with windows update and WSUS server issues, and your issue is more related with DNS, I would move this post to DNS forum, so that you may get better help.

    Best Regards,

    Anne
