  • Hello John! According to the log you provided, the update program cannot backup DPM SQL DB. It tries to execute following command which fails: BACKUP DATABASE DPMDB_TRDPM TO DISK = 'QFEDPMDB_TRDPM.bak' WITH COPY_ONLY, INIT

Please try to run this command manually, via SSMS - you'll see the actual SQL error it returns. In my experience, such errors mostly caused by an old backup file (QFEDPMDB_TRDPM.bak) - when it is incompatible with current database. You can safely move that old backup file to a different location and delete it after successful installation.

  • DPM when putting UR automatically makes backup your database. This error just indicated she 'QFEDPMDB.bak'.
I propose to make a backup on its own (for example, through SQL management Studio), and then

    1) to skip the cut. Copy database during installation, use the command <DataProtectionManager KBID.exe> SKIPDBBACKUP = 1 / l * v <log file location>

    SKIPDBBACKUP KB959605.exe DataProtectionManager2007 = 1 / l * v c: \ dpmkb959605.log

2), or change the path to cut storage. copies of DPM database through the registry

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Microsoft SQL Server \ <MSSQL.n> \ MSSQLServer \ BackupDirectory

  • Check out this post:

Although it refers to DPM 2010, I think it would be worth a read to lead you on the right path.

    Also this:

Again, not the version you are referring to, but similar error/outcome.

    Cheers,
