Tuncated values received from database RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are using System.Data.OracleClient with .Net 2.0 to connect to Oracle 12c database. We see that if the value returned from the Oracle DB is "AABBCCDD", in the application shows "AABB" only. We have checked that the value from the database is returned without truncation, so the issue seems to be at .Net end.

Has this problem been seen by anyone before? Is this a bug with Microsoft? The application works fine with Windows 7, but we have seen this issue with Windows10 and Windows 2012.

  • From Oracle and ADO.NET

"The types in System.Data.OracleClient are deprecated. The types remain supported in the current version of.NET Framework but will be removed in a future release. Microsoft recommends that you use a third-party Oracle provider."

  • Hi Teemo,

While we understand that the System.Data.OracleClient may be deprecated, but what could be possible reason for truncation of the values? We are having this problem in Windows 2012R2 and Windows10. The application works fine on Windows7 and Windows 2008.
