User's changes to excel spreadsheet not saved - but no error from excel or sharepoint RRS feed

  • Platform: 32 bit MOSS 2007 service pack 3, cumulative upgrade April 2012

    User has contribute permissions on a document library and contribute on the files in the library.

    Before yesterday, she was able to update the spreadsheets. She was using xp and ie 7.

    yesterday, her desktop was replaced with a windows 7 desktop, with ie 9.

    Yesterday, when she attempted to edit the spreadsheet, she would make her changes, exit the spreadsheet - with no errors reported, and when she returned to the spreadsheet, her changes were not there.

    In fact, when I joined her to see the problem in action, the other thing I noticed was that while she checked out the document (required before she could change it), when she exited the program after making her changes, she was not prompted about checking the document back in.

    Meanwhile, when I tried the same operation, I was prompted to check the document back in, and my changes were retained after the action.

    Does anyone have suggestions on things to check related to this?
