Multiple systems showing no client - but client is installed. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have several servers - but mostly just my actual SCCM distribution points - that are showing as no client.  When you look at the client, it most certainly DOES look installed.  Rebooting nor reinstalling the client have helped.

These are servers that I have been patching with SCCM (I use the DPs to patch themselves) without issue for months.  Unfortunately, I have no access to log files because the CCM folder is totally gone.  I only have CCMSETUP and CCMCACHE (which, btw, is full of past patches that were installed).  The client components all show "Installed" and no longer show "Enabled" or "Disabled" like they should.  The boundaries are all configured, and I have had no issues patching any other servers in any boundary.

I read the first 4 "Related Topics" and didn't find any pertinent to this particular issue.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Is 'SMS Agent Host' displayed in service manager? Is there a ccmexec.exe process running?

  • We don't use Service Manager if you are talking about SCSM - if you're talking about something else, please elaborate.

The CCMExec.exe process is indeed running.  Stopping and starting this process doesn't correct the issue.

  • Service manager = services.msc.
Are there any errors in ccmexec.log, ClientIdManagerStartup.log, ccmmessaging.log, ClientLocation.log or LocationServices.log? (Do need to post the entire contents of all logs)

  • Wow,  that was embarrassing - sorry.  NOW I have checked services.msc and yes, SMS Agent Host is running.

The CCM folder is gone, so I have no logs to share.  As far as its concerned, SCCM has never existed.  I only have logs in the ccmsetup folder - I reinstalled it the other day as a test, no dice.  The ccmsetup.log returns with error code 0, stating that it correctly installed.

  • The ccm folder is gone? Where is ccmexec.exe located then?
