Windows Vista installation problems RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I'm having problems installing Windows Vista on my machine.  Here are my specs:

    athlon64 3200+
    epox 8kdaj mobo
    sata hdd

Installing Windows Vista RTM x86 works fine, but when I attempt to install using the retail x86 version, immediately after booting from the CD I get "0Xc00000e9.  Unexpected I/O error has occurred."  Windows does not even load files.  As for the x64 retail version, the install actually goes through but then the system keeps restarting and never really boots in the operating system.  Do these problems sound familiar to you guys; any suggestions to troubleshoot? Thank you for your time!
