workflow error - “The workflow is still processing. Refresh the page and try again.” RRS feed

  • Question

  • I published using SharePoint designer 2013 workflow to crate Enterprise Project Template into Project Web app

when I create Project that associate with that EPT

    I get following

1]Workflow Stage Status-The Workflow is Still Processing .Refresh the page and try again

2]'Submit' button in the ribbon Disabled (which is used to submit project from one stage to another stage of Workflow)

3] go to Additional Workflow data  for check status that return the "Internal Status: Started"

What can be the possible reason ?

  • Hi Avishek, what are the internal status details? Next to started, you‘ll find an information button - here you can find the information. In the meantime, check Brians blog about common workflow errors: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/projectsupport/2017/08/25/project-online-how-to-interpret-common-workflow-errors/

  • Hello Avishek, the message is pretty straight forward „Access denied“. Seems like you don‘t have the permission to perform the action.

  • What is not immediately obvious is that the workflow engine will check for your account to be an explicitly added member to a project security group with sufficient rights to do the requested operations - it is not enough to "just" be an administrator. Try adding your account to a project security group (e.g.: program managers) and try again.

There's a mention of this in the blog comments on Brian's blog as well.

  • Looking at the message, it seems the account with which the Workflow is getting triggered does not have the necessary permissions. Make a note of the user account under Additional Workflow information. Once you have the account information, go to Manage Users  and look for the account and the edit it. Check if the account is added to the Administrators group, if not then add the account to that group and save the changes.

That should probably fix the issue.
