IMAP and POP configuration for the devices RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am into some weird condition where I have configured my emails in the outlook as POP.

I have configured a leave copy on the server for 14 days and also configured my emails as IMAP in my <g class="gr_ gr_13 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" data-gr-id="13" id="13">iphone</g>.

The problem is whenever I read any emails on my phone it does not get read in the outlook and when I delete from the <g class="gr_ gr_18 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Style multiReplace" data-gr-id="18" id="18">IMAP ,</g> it does not delete from the Outlook.

Is there any solution when I do any changes in the mobile it should get <g class="gr_ gr_12 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar only-ins doubleReplace replaceWithoutSep" data-gr-id="12" id="12">update</g> in the Outlook.

    Please suggest.

    Hi MOHD,

To get changes on the mobile phone updated in your Outlook client, you need to configure the account in Outlook using IMAP as well.

The situation described in your thread is an expected behavior. This is because "POP3 is download only, so changes you make locally, will not be uploaded back to the server nor to any other computer or device. This also includes Sent Items and the Read/Unread status of your messages. If the message was already marked as read on the server, it will be downloaded as Unread in Outlook."

See the article below for more explanation about POP and IMAP:

Should I use POP3 or IMAP?
