Unable to set up AdHoc Network - No Microsoft Hosted Network Virtual Adapter RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

as in the title, with Windows 10 I'm no longer able to set up AdHoc networks.

    In particular, executing

    netsh wlan start hostednetwork

    returns the following

The hosted network couldn’t be started.
The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation.

I had no problems before the upgrade with Win 8.1 .

Now, I have noticed that Microsoft Hosted Network Virtual Adapter is not listed under Network Adapters in Device Manager (no, it isn't hidden either). All the solutions I read online mentioned I should enable such adapter, but it's just not there.

Also, my wifi adapter (still) supports hosted networks, I've already checked with cmd.

    Any solutions/suggestions?
