ATA update to version 1.8 - penimc.dll failure RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi guys,

we tried to update ATA to version 1.8 today. Unfortunately, the installer crashes every time the RDP session to the ATA center is disconnected ("Unable to load DLL 'penimc.dll'"). We suppose there might be a connection with the touch-enabled notebook we used and/or .NET framework 4.7.

Did someone encounter this behavior as well?

    Thanks!

    Best Regards

    Christian

  • Indeed seem to be related to a problem with WPF & touch enabled devices.

Since the ATA installer is based on WPF, it pops the bug.

    See details here:

Some claiming that uninstalling KB3186539 and reinstalling via the offline installer resolves the issue, but I haven't tried.

  • Hello Christian,

I can upgrade to ATA 1.8 successfully with the ATA 1.8 upgrade only version. By the way, I'm using .NET framework 4.6.

Please note that only ATA version 1.7 Update 1 and 1.7 Update 2 can be updated to ATA version 1.8, any earlier version of ATA can't be directly updated to ATA version 1.8.

In addition, to take a further investigation, you can get more details about the error from the log file at location below on ATA Center.

    C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp

    Best regards,

  • Thank you! We have no intention to fix the issue but nice to know about the bug.

In the meantime, we successfully ran the update using the Hyper-V console.
