To Images showing up in Captured Windows 7 Image

Question

Hi Guys,
We are cunning SCCM 2012 Build 7111. We have recently tried perform a capture of a computer and found that when we went to import the Captured Image into a Task Sequence that there were 2 images 1-1 and 2-2. This has never been the case in the past which image of the two do we select to use for the computer Image?
Kind Regards

This usually happens when the reference image contains the bitlocker partition. Just don't create one when creating the reference image and you're all set.

If you create you image using MDT, you can add the following to you CustomSettings.ini file to avoid this:
DoNotCreateExtraPartition=YES

1-1 should be the System Reserved Partition and 2-2 should be the captured Operating System.
You should see the two Disks on the Disk Configuration Tab in the Operating System Image Node.

Hi
I haven't got bit locker setup. I tried the 2-2 Image but it failed to install, well it applied the image but the computer wont boot as it's missing the boot manager.
I will I try another Reference Machine that we have and see what happens.
Kind Regards

Why not use a build a capture, then you can ensure the proper disk configuration is set? Can you automate all of your reference image software installs?

You don't have to. The default format and partition step creates those partitions automatically. Just modify it so that only one partition will be created.Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

Hi,
We have a base Image that we use for all of our computers which contains packages that don't have 'msi' packages or run from network drives. I have never tried to use build and capture but will give it a go later on this week. I need to get this current Image captured for some PC's that have to be out by Friday.
I have images that are older images that work fine and are perfect files but anything that I am trying to capture is producing WIM files with the 1-1 and 2-2 images.
I have tried to re-creating the Capture ISO file, just to confirm that it isn't the file that is at fault.
We are running SCCM 2012 with no Service Packs our current build number is 7111.
Torsten - I have never had this issue before so not sure how to only caputre the 'C' drive or move the required data to the 'C' drive for the capture. I am going to try and capture another one of our computers that has been built from another image and see if this presents the same issue.
This is strange as it worked just before Christmas without any issues.
Kind Regards

Hi,
We're not using MDT to create our Image, we have a Reference Machine that has had Windows 7 and All Application installed on it, we then use the 'Capture' iso file that was Generated by SCCM 2012 to Capture the PC.
I am going to look at using MDT as this has been suggested to me before.

The guy who suggested that is a wise guy :-)
