AD RMS Right Policy RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

I am new to AD RMS deployment. I have two question:

    1. When deploying RMS right policy, what does Expires on the following date mean? If policy expired, what will do on RMS client?

    2. I have some Windows XP in my enviroment. what is the best practice to deploy RMS policy on these clients? I look into following technet document:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd996658%28WS.10%29.aspx

And copy policy to %appdata%\Microsoft\DRM\templates. But I cannot see my policy when protect my word. Also, when accessing OWA on my Windows XP client, I even cannot find permission tab. Do I miss something?

    Any suggestion will be appreciated.

    Roger

  • Hi Roger,

When you specify Expiration Policy in AD RMS and when it really expired, that mean you couldn't open any document protected by this policy. As you can see in description on "Create Distributed Rights Policy Template" page , if the content expires, it must be republished.( if the  information still needs to be avaliable for end users).

  • Hi Roger,

Probably looks like an issue with your Windows XP boxes which are probably missing either the service packs or hotfixes. Try updating them directly off the Microsoft Update Site

Plus have a read thru the following link for deploying AD RMS templates and which version of Office are you using?
