Implement DPM with VSS Hardware Provider in Hyper-V CSV Cluster. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everyone,

Actually implementing DPM 2010 on a large Hyper-V CSV Cluster on HP EVA hardware i have some questions relative to the way backup occur.

When using the Hardware VSS provider :

Does the DPM Server Need to be connected to the SAN with FC ?

Does the DPM Server will be able to mount the SAN Snapshots localy to backup them (using directly the FC attachement)?

Does i still need a dedicated backup network ?

    Thanks everyone for enlightment :)

    Ced.

  • Hi,

    1) DPM Does not need to be connected to the SAN hosting the VM's

    2) All DPM backups are done over the network.

    3) You do not need a dedicated network to perform backups.  However, please review best practice guidelines for cluster networking configuration
