Grouppolicy Sys Volume (fails to replicated)

    Question

  • Good Day,

I am having issues with group policy replications. I checked my PDC and noticed

c:\windows\sysvol\domain\policies is full of Guids, but on my other dc servers its only got 1 GUID. When I GPUPDATE I get this error

omputer policy could not be updated successfully. The following errors were encountered:

The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows attempted to read the file \\INLOCAL\sysvol\IN.LOCAL\Policies\{31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\gpt.ini from a domain controller and was not successful. Group Policy settings may not be applied until this event is resolved. This issue may be transient and could be caused by one or more of the following:
    a) Name Resolution/Network Connectivity to the current domain controller.
    b) File Replication Service Latency (a file created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller).
    c) The Distributed File System (DFS) client has been disabled.
User Policy could not be updated successfully. The following errors were encountered:

To diagnose the failure, review the event log or run GPRESULT /H GPReport.html from the command line to access information about Group Policy results.

I tried lots of different things I found on these forums. NOne have worked

    .I tried BurFlags technique

    Even tried this

    http://jackstromberg.com/2014/07/sysvol-and-group-policy-out-of-sync-on-server-2012-r2-dcs-using-dfsr/

    None worked for me.

  • Hi,
Have you found any events related to SYSVOL, JRNL_WRAPS, or NTFRS? If you found it, please share us the event ID and detail message.

According to the article you posted, the settings should be configured from PDC and you need to do following change on the ALL other DCs in you domain, please verify again:
Change the msDFSR-Enabled attribute to False
    Force Active Directory replication
    Start the DFSR service s
    Set msDFSR-Enabled=TRUE
Please take a look the following article and try again: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2218556

Besides, I would suggest that you could also have try to copy the absent GUIDs manually to all other DCs and see if it works.

    Regards,
    Wendy
