Specific permissions on sub-projects? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Is it possible to set some specific permissions to sub-projects, via File / Manage Permissions or via any other way?

    Thanks

  • Hello,

Project Permission should work fine for this  to grant other users access to the project - this was added in Project Server 2010 but is still in Project Online today when using the Project Permission mode: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/project/2010/03/04/project-2010-project-permissions/

Since you are getting very few replies, why don't you tell us what permissions you would like to change for the subprojects, and the behavior you are seeking?  Your question is kind of nebulous, which may be why you have gotten only one reply before mine.  Please let us know and we will try to help you.

  • Dale,

Sorry for my nebulous question. I'll try to explain more clearly.

One week ago, a user told me he was not able to grant permission to "external" users when the project was a sub-project of a Master project. To do that, in Project Pro connected to Online, he selected File / Info / Manage Permissions.

He expected to get something like that:

But he never succeed to do that in sub-projects.

I checked in several instances of Project Online and in another instance of Project Server : I got the same result.

That's why I posted this question...

But today I did again the same tests... and everything is working fine. No more issue!

So you can delete my question,

    Thanks

  • Hello Paul,

Sorry, I did not formulate my question correctly. My question was how to do that in sub-projects which are subordinated to a Master project. According to my trials, that does not work anymore :(

    Thanks
