DCOM Errors Event ID 10010 Printing and Remote Desktop Issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am running a Server 2012 deployment at one of my clients with networked printers loaded onto the server. I recently had an issue where one of my users was unable to print from a specific printer. When I then proceeded to check on the server side through Remote Desktop I was unable to remote into the server. Unfortunately during the time I did not record the error because I was able to physically gain access to the machine with no problem. However I had to restart the server because of the services that the server provided.

Now after the reboot and during some down time I went through the event viewer and these two DCOM errors kept repeating themselves for a long time within a 24 hour period. Please see below for the DCOM errors.

    Log Name: System

    Source: DistributedCOM

    Event ID: 10010

    Level: Error

    User: System

The server {73E709EA-5D93-4B2E-BBB0-99B7938DA9E4} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

    Log Name: System

    Source: DistributedCOM

    Event ID: 10010

    Level: Error

    User: System

The server {A677570A-2BA2-4E9A-B2E2-8A02CD8B4FD3} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

Now I checked in my registry with the SID's in the brackets to try to narrow it down.

The 73 had the following parameters:

    %systemroot%\sysWOW64\wbem\wmiprvse.exe

The A6 had the following parameters

    %SystemRoot%\system32\PrintIsolationHost.exe

    PrintSys.CoPrintIsolationHost.1

Now I am not sure exactly what caused the issue. My theories are either a possible print driver or something that was not fixed in Server 2012. After hours I ended up updating that Server 2012 with latest windows updates thinking maybe Microsoft had release some type of fix. However I am not super confident to make this server my backbone because of this issue with the printer locking up and not being able to remote desktop into the server until after a reboot.  If someone has seen this specific issue with the above mentioned DCOM errors any help is appreciated. I have looked at many technet articles and other postings, but nothing seems to point to this error.

  • Hi,

Based on my research, Event ID 10010 may be related to many reasons.I recommend you refer to the similar threads below, although they are related to Windows server 2008 R2, they would also be helpful.

  • I have this same EXACT event - I have to reboot the server every weekend - or it will eventually freeze.   When I login - the server manager dashboard displays 2 blocks of roles and server groups (out of 6 when its working), and says 'cannot get role and feature data'.   have been trying many things for months on this one - its not a pain enough to wipe the server, but its heading that way.   It runs 8 printers, shares 450,000 files - also runs IIS for some ftp files.   2012 server.

Fresh install of Win 2012 r2 promoted to primary DC worked well for a week or so.

now about ever 4-5 days or so i see this WMI DCOM error cannot refresh server roles and features and have to reboot.

this also causes a problem with file shares and VSS shadows copies. Please HELP!

  • Hello,

I also have the same problems:

    - no servermanagement in spite of dom-admin (cannot get role and feature data)

    - dcom error (73E709EA-5D93-4B2E-BBB0-99B7938DA9E4)

    - shadow copies didn't run

    - snaphot related backup didn't run

    - after reboot, it works fine for several days

    Does anyone have a solution?

    Thanks Andreas

  • Andreas, i have the same issue.

Do you have any Konika Minolta C220 or HP 5000 Printers?

If you look in Event Viewer, expand Applications and Services Logs, Microsoft, Windows, WMI-Activity, operational

Do you see frequent error loops such as :

  • Same here, I got the exact same problem and I cant believe nobody found a fix for it.

Every 4 to 5 days my Windows Server 2012 freezes and I need to power off & power on to get it back.

Should I upgrade to 2012 R2 or the problem will remain the same????

    Please advise

    Thanks

  • I'm having the same exact issue on Windows Server 2016. Did no-one ever find a solution?

  • We have the same problem. We have a combination of Xerox, HP, and 1 Minolta printer. We have to reboot this at least once every few weeks or we cannot RDP in.

  • Same here...

Terminal Servers are getting the message in german:

Der Server "{9BA05972-F6A8-11CF-A442-00A0C90A8F39}" konnte innerhalb des angegebenen Zeitabschnitts mit DCOM nicht registriert werden.

    ID: 10010

    Quelle: DistributedCOM

After a day logouts not possible anymore and we have to reboot the server manually.  Today a few services stuck and we had to cancel over 70 users on this terminal server.

We just use Thinprint as universal printer software so we don't have some printer drivers.

In EventVwr Microsoft / Windows / WMI-Activity we've got a lot of 5858 errors in this style:

    ID: {0E4FC5AA-6371-4F6F-B26C-D1374F247362}; Clientcomputer: SERVERNAME; Benutzer: ; Clientprozess-ID: 760; Komponente: Unknown; Vorgang: Start IWbemServices::DeleteInstance - Root\Rsop\User\S_1_5_21_1689948849_1092154042_1761697501_1904 : RSOP_ExtensionStatus.extensionGuid="{FB2CA36D-0B40-4307-821B-A13B252DE56C}"; Ergebniscode: 0x80041002; mögliche Ursache: Unknown

    Any ideas?

  • Hi All, I'm having the same exact problem on Windows Server 2012. Did anyone found solution? I also need to restart the server 2 a week in order the services were working properly.

If this is common problem of us, maybe Microsoft can help us ((.
