Recover lost pictures from digital camera RRS feed

  • Question

  • I took out the memory card from my digital camera and put it in a cable device and hooked it up to my computer as an external drive and copied only three pictures out of several. Now all pictures are gone from my memory card. Is there any way I can recover my pictures? Is there a way to recover them through my computer (even though I never clicked that I would copy or delete them, I just took a look at them)? Thank you

It seems a data recovery related issue. Generally, due to the complexity of this kind of issues and to avoid possible data losing risk, it is highly recommended that you contact some professional data recovery companies for help.

  • Good news for you. It is probably possible to recover the data from your camera card. I know of a data recovery program, Card Data Recovery, easy to use as well as good function. It is a professional camera card data recovery program. I hope that can help you.

First things first: DO NOT take any more pictures with the memory card that you want to recover photos from in case you may quite possibly ruin your chances of photo recovery. Then Connect the card to your computer as it should appear as a "Removable Drive" or put the card in a card reader attached to your PC. Next, if you are comfortable with using a PC then you can download aphoto recovery tool <http://www.datarescuetools.com/photo-recovery.html>  that will recover your pictures.

I missed the original question, but if he wants to try to recover
deleted photos, let me mention that the fact that they are photos is a
irrelevant and the fact that they are on an SD (or similar) card is
also irrelevant. He simply needs to undelete files from a disk drive,
and there are several choices of undelete programs available. The one
    that I use is http://www3.telus.net/mikebike/RESTORATION.html
And I'll second your advice to write nothing more to the card.
"Deleting" a file doesn't actually delete it; it just marks the space
as available to be used. There are several third-party programs that
can sometimes recover deleted files. The problem is that the space
used by the file is likely to become overwritten very quickly (on your
C: drive, but not on a flash card if you don't take any more pictures
with it), and this makes the file unrecoverable.

  • You may also find some tools from this Digital Camera Recovery site, where a few tested and reliable camera photo recovery programs are listed. And yes you should probably STOP immediately using the digital camera to take new photos, saving more data to the card is not recommended either if you want to incrase a little bit chances of recovery.
