Changed AD userid is not dispalyed and shows as invalid when I click the "Check Name" or attempt to add

Hi, We have Sharepoint MOSS 2007. It's configured to get AD users validate AD users. We recently have some of users' AD login id changed. These users' id only shows old AD userid and I'm not able to add this user to a site using its new AD userid since it can't find it. How can I refresh the AD user list in Sharepoint? Thank you.

1. Ask the user to carry out any changes in the site collection.
2. Try resolving his correct name by adding him to any any user group.
3. If the first way is not feasible because of your security policies and second is not working out to you then delete the user from site collection and add him once again.

What site collection means?

step2, any "AD" user group? or any SharePoint user group?
