WSUS on Server 2008 R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear All,

We have WSUS installed and Win 2008 R2 and working fine from last few years. Recently we have purchased Window 2012 R2.

I want to connect Win 2012 to WSUS installed on 2008 R2 to take update from that server.

Connect with AD and working fine, but when i check the Server 2012 is not showing in WSUS.

Below is the error when i tried to update from WSUS.

Please help us to resolve this issue.

  • Hi ShijuChacko,

    1. In order to check GPO result, we may check registry for window update:

open cmd, enter regedit to open registry editor, expand hkey_local_machine\software\policies\Microsoft\windows\windowsupdate, check if WUServer is your WSUS server, for example:

2.Can i manually download all the pending KB on Server.

If you want to update to version 3.2.7600.274, you only need to download KB2938066. And yes, you can manually download it.

    3. The log will record all information about the update, update from wsus will also be recorded.

    Best Regards,

    Anne

  • Hi ShijuChacko14,

You may provide more information about your configurations:

    1. Have you configured GPO for the win 2012R2 WSUS client, if yes, check if the 2012R2 client has applied the GPO and change the related registry value;

    2. Check what the version of the WSUS server, if it is not the latest version, you may install the KB to update WSUS server:

    WSUS 3.0 (SP2):? ?? Build 3.2.7600.226
    WSUS 3.0 (SP2) + KB2720211:? ?? Build 3.2.7600.251
    WSUS 3.0 (SP2) + KB2734608:? ?? Build 3.2.7600.256
    WSUS 3.0 (SP2) + KB2828185:? ?? Build 3.2.7600.262
    WSUS 3.0 (SP2) + KB2938066:? ?? Build 3.2.7600.274

    3. If you have configured the GPO and update the WSUS server, it still doesn't work, you may check the windows update log, the location of the log is C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log

    Best Regards,

    Anne

  • New machines do not automatically search and detect any WSUS servers on your network, they need to be configured to point to the existing WSUS server and your post does not mention anything about any client configuration you may have done.

Did you configure the new server to look at the WSUS server?
