No access to web.config file RRS feed

  • Question

  • hello.

I could not find web.config file for sharepoit in C drive.

Inetpub location doesnt exist in C: Drive and

    \Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\

there is nothing in there under 12 or other.

is there something like I need administrtive access to shareppoint 2007?

I have full control but cannot setup workflows:

after brainstorming and lot of investigation I came to resolution of editing web.config file but, new problem came up, I can't find web.config.

FYI while setting up workflows it SPD gives error as:

Errors were found when compiling the workflow. The workflow files were saved but cannot be run.

Advanced: Unexpected error on server associating the workflow

If someone know how to get access to web.config or do i need to request access to admin?

    Thank you!

  • Hi pjb,

The web.config files are only stored on the Windows Server which are installed SharePoint Server, you can find the files on the server per this article , if you want to access windows server, you need to contact your server Administrator.

For the Designer workflow error, you can check whether there are some data/logic errors in your workflow.

Or delete and re-create the workflow (similar post), then check the result.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

These files are present in the web servers of your farm.

If you have access to the server then login into it and open IIS.

Right click on the sites hosted and click on browse it will take you to the directory where you will find the web.config.

I hope this will help you out
