.onLoad failed in loadNamespace() for 'RevoScaleR' RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I've installed both "MRO for RRE8.0.1" and "Revolution R Enterprise 8.0.1" on my machine.

Unfortunately when I try to load the "RevoScaleR" package I encounter the following error:

Error : .onLoad failed in loadNamespace() for 'RevoScaleR', details:
      call: doTryCatch(return(expr), name, parentenv, handler)
error: Write error: expected 8 got
Error: package or namespace load failed for ‘RevoScaleR’

  • The 8.0.1 version was a CTP release that is now superseded by the SQL Server 2016 RTM; please install the SQL Server 2016 RTM version of R Server (standalone) and see if the issue persists.

  • Hi Rich,

My purpose is to instal MRO and RRE on a machine which does not have SQL 2016 installed on it, then use functions to work with SQL Server 2016 R Services of another machine.

Is it possible or I need to install MRO and RRE directly on same machine that has SQL 2016 R services installed on it?

  • Yes, this is possible. The SQL Server 2016 setup includes an option called R Server (standalone); this installs just R Server, without actually installing SQL Server. You can learn more at
