Failed SharePoint Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • We were running a 2 server infrastructure (SharePoint / DB) when we had our SharePoint server die.  We were able join a newly build SharePoint server to the farm and have most items up and running.  We have removed the old server from the farm from CA, but under the web application it still shows the old server name.  Is there a way to change the web application URL for CA that is pointed to failed server to the new server?

  • hi,

Is there any Alternate Access Mappings configured for those URLs ? If yes please check and replace public URLs.

If not then the best way I recommend is backup / restore or export / import

for STSADM backup / restore please refer

  • Hey,

    • Yes you can, Please under Central Admin change de Alternate Access Mapping to the URL you want.
    • Then Under IIS make a NEW BINDING where the application is running
    • As last please modify or make a new HOST in you're DNS with the correct url and IP.

  • Excellent, thank you!  I had over looked the AAM section of the CA.
