Privacy Level Warning on Save As RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a table of action items with assigned person for each AI.

I want to create a file for each person with its own AI's

In a new Excel, I created a template with a Power Query that performs an inner-join-merge on the table with the name of a user found in a single-cell table.

I wrote a macro that for each user:

    1. Opens the template
    2. Puts the user name in the template
    3. Refreshes the query
    4. Saves the file with a name containing the user name
    5. Closes the saved file and returns to step 1 with the next user

I have one computer where it works fine.

On another computer, on every save (in step 4 above) I get prompted to select privacy level, which makes the user having to inspect the macro run.

The 1st computer is Excel 2016 and the second is 2013, but I don't think that this is the reason for the different behavior.

Any idea how to get rid of these prompts?

    Thanks,

    Barak

  • Well, I found the problem.

I created the template in 2016 where privacy level is not required.

When working in 2013, the template did not pass through any Save. Only Save-As.

Once I opened the template in 2013 and saved it, I was asked for privacy level. Once set, the following Save-As operations did not require privacy level since it was already set in the template.

    Regards,

  • One of these workbooks likely has "Fast Combine" turned on, which avoids the privacy checks.
