Failover SQL cluster and encryption RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

we have an environment with several sql-cluster where one some of them some databases are encrypted. On microsoft marketing websites - about DPM 2010 - I read that dpm is able to protect

    a) clustered sql server

    b) encrypted sql server.

But in the documentation I didn't find anything.

Please does someone know if this is truly the case? Does anyone know if I have to be careful about something when backing up or restoring clustered sql server or encrypted sql server? does someone know about a more detailed documentation/whitepapers?

We have SCDPM 2010 and want to backup sql server 2005 sp3.

    Many thanks.

  • If, by "encrypted" you mean NTFS EFS, then one problem is that you wouldn't get good ExpressFulls.
The files will be transferred fully on each synchronization (if even a small part of the file is changed).

    As said in: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;2476276

    Thanks,
