automatic updates servers RRS feed

  • There are a lot of servers where the status of the management is " not contacted yet" .

    After reading this forum i went to take some steps to resolve this. Starting with the automatic update service which are all off by our servers, i looked at the setting:
    both the settings are: http://wsusservernameStick out tongueortnumber
    so this is good. The update server is the server where system centre essentials is running.

    After this i started the service: automatic updates and put it on automatic.

    But at my suprise a few moments later there was a pop-up on the server from automatic updates:
    automatic update is almost complete. You must restart the server.....

    In system centre there where updates available but they where not approved. So my question is what updates did the server install? not from sce but from the internet?

    How can i found out which updates the server did, and how can i prevent that all the servers are goiing to update. I thought that this was goiing thru sce and i must approve the updates. There is a list in sce in the updates section for updates but all have the status not approved.

    The management status is now good but the update message is what worries me...

    Please check if the Automatic Approval has been configured in System Center Essentials. When synchronizing updates, new updates that are configured with automatic approval are automatically approved and deployed to the specified computer group without any further intervention.
