How do I get the 'sort by' bars while browsing a folder in explorer? RRS feed

  • The workaround seems to be to switch to Details view, sort as you want, then switch to the view of your choice.

  • Alternatively, you could right click and sort by. This is an inconvenience though still. Apparently it was reported during beta...check out this thread:

    Wow, looks like the folks in that thread share my sentiments. This is a really disappointing regression - I can't believe something so useful would just be removed. It's not like there was room made for anything else, or a new way of sorting - we just lose this feature.

  • Windows Explorer is one of the biggest disappointments in Windows 7. There are so many things wrong with it that it's hard to keep track. Hopefully MS will heed to complaints of many of it's users and fix this soon. Unlikely, but I can hope.
