  • Sorry - I didn't read closely enough. You can discover and configure SNMP probes (gets) against SNMP v3 devices but not catch SNMP traps.

  • Hi

I suspect not - I'd suggest firstly contacting EMC to confirm if they do have an MP but I think it is unlikely.

This means that you'll need to build your own MP (or see if someone else has done it for you).

Before we get into any coding, can you explain what are the components of the application (databases? Application Servers? Web sites?) and if there are any windows services that need monitoring and perhaps what event id's are good to look for.

From there we can build a service model.

And from there a health model.

    Regards

    Graham

  • Hi Graham ,

    Thanks for your help .

I dig it from today's morning and not found as such any docs from EMC site. And also customer did not specific on that . They just need to monitor it using snmpv3 on scom 2012. I will search for the components which you have asked and get back to you shortly.  Anyways if you have any docs or ref. related to that please share . Its a new oppotunty for me to implement. :)

    Thanks,

    Tushar

  • Ah .. so it isn't a windows box!

This is the definitive walk through of using SNMP with SCOM:

  • Hi Graham ,

Yes , you are right . and information what I got from customer that. they need a monitoring as much as possible. So I would like to hear from others if they have exprience to it please share with me what the components possible to monitor and if any customize require how to do that.

Thanks for the link also which is enhanced my setup implementation.

    Thanks,

    Tushar

  • We also have issues with RSA AM monitoring.  So far this only shoots out V3 traps which per the SCOM documentation that I have found, V3 isn't yet supported.

One workaround that I am looking into is a SNMP Trap Manager software like Kiwi Syslog server to receive the traps and then write log entries where a MMA (SCOM Agent) can pick them up from the logs.

Not an ideal solution but best I have come up with so far.

  • SNMP v3 is supported with AES128 encryption (AES 256 is not supported).
