Hyper-V manager wont start RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hyper-V Manager service will not start.

You click start service and get "You might not have permission to perform this task."

I have also went to services and tried to start and get an error there and it wont start.

These VM's have been running fine for years and no changes have been made.

  • What is the host operating system? Try rebooting host? I'd check the system event log for clues about the failure.

  • Hello,

Try running SFC /SCANNOW if you are sure nothing has changed regarding permissions. Still, you may want to check that the user you are logging in with has administrator permissions on the server running Hyper-V. Someone else may have changed that.

  • Hi,

1.Please check if there is any error message in Event Viewer:

    path:Microsoft-windows-hyper-v-vmms

2.Check whether your account is an administrator account or a member of the administrator group.

    Best Regards,

    Daniel
