Bitlocker placeholder file


  • Hi everyone,

    I have multiple bitlockered computers that are running out of space.  Bitlocker status says drive is already 100% encrypted.  I suspect that the placeholder file did not get deleted for some reason.  Is there a way to check if this file has been removed or not.  If not, where is this file stored and can I manually remove this file?  Thanks in advance.

    As far as I know, Placeholder file use to enable users to view and manage Microsoft OneDrive files regardless of connectivity. Placeholder files represent the OneDrive namespace, even when files are not cached locally. They contain file metadata and thumbnail images of photos.
